Vision Africa – School Events

We have come to the end of our year long fundraising effort for Vision Africa and have managed to raise £16000 in memory of Ruth Ross.

Below is a letter from Ruth’s husband Chris

To the pupils, staff and parents of Airdrie Academy

I was absolutely blown away by the presentation of your gift to Vision Africa at last night’s prize giving – the sum of £16,000 is an incredible total, and bears wonderful testimony to the love and respect you had for Ruth.  I know that raising this amount of money with so many events across the school year takes a massive amount of hard work, organisation and commitment – and you have all shown this and so much more.  I am immensely proud of what you have done, and I know Ruth would have been too.

Ruth always believed in and worked towards ways of changing the lives of young people for the better, to ensure they had and made the most of every opportunity in life.  What you have all achieved through this year’s efforts reflect that so beautifully, and the money raised for Vision Africa will help hundreds and thousands of young Kenyans achieve things they may never have thought possible, will allow them the possibility of escaping the traps that poverty holds for so many young people, will allow them to have a future where they can make choices.

The facility that Vision Africa will help to build with this donation will serve generations of young people for many years to come, so once again, THANK YOU, both personally and from Vision Africa!

We would love it if you wanted to stay in touch with Vision Africa and what we are doing, there are tremendous opportunities for young people from the UK to serve as Young Ambassadors with the charity, and to volunteer on the ground in Kenya for short term or longer-term, and all details of these and other opportunities are on our website www.vision-africa.org

Kind regards
Chris Ross
