On Wednesday 21st June celebrating success assemblies were held at Airdrie Academy. These provide an opportunity to recognize the wider achievements of our pupils. Between this group of assemblies and our S5/6 assembly before study leave, 860 awards were presented. Pupils are engaged in a vast array of activities ranging from school
clubs and House events to charity and voluntary work. We are very proud of our pupils achievements and enjoyed celebrating their successes in this series of assemblies.
The S2 Food Studies classes recently took part in a competition to design and make a healthy snack for a teenager which had to be suitable to be sold in the school canteen. The winning product was Pizza Parcels. Congratulations to Cara, Lucy, Hayley and Holly who designed the product.

A group of S3 pupils from Airdrie Academy were recently runners up in the Speaking Up 2017 public speaking competition.
Having been successful in their heat held at St Maurices’s High School they progressed to the finals held in Bellshill Cultural Centre on Tuesday 30th May.
They are part of our newly formed public speaking g
roup who meet at lunchtimes to develop their skills. The other members of the group have been invaluable providing ideas and supporting the team throughout the competition. This was the groups first ever competition and we are very proud of them.
Congratulations to Jude, Molly and Saif on this achievement.

Hope to see you there!!!
We would also be grateful for any raffle prizes that you would like to donate for this evening. Please hand them into any of the named above.
Thanks
Parent Council Fund Raising Committee

Our grand total raised was £496. Thank you to everyone who took part, especially the 4 senior pupils who gave up lots of their own time selling merchandise – Scott Brand, William McEwan, Matthew Paul and Lindsay Rideout. Veronica Sweeney (covering Catering Manager from the school canteen) also made all of the cakes for us and Liz Brannan was our chief cake decorator!
