Congratulations to our newly appointed School Captain and Vice Captains at Airdrie Academy.
Following a rigorous interview process we are delighted to announce that School Captain for the session 2018/19 will be Kyle Hunter and Vice Captains are Olivia Gallen and Adam Campbell.
The Head Teacher commented on the exceptionally high standard of all candidates during the selection process. We wish the pupils lots of luck for a successful session.
We are very excited to be welcoming author and illustrator Oisin McGann to Airdrie Academy on the 19th September.
Oisin McGann is visiting as part of the NLC Read to Succeed Initiative and will present to all S1 pupils.
The aim of the initiative is to encourage children to read more.
In addition, we are seeking to enlist the support and seek the views of parents and carers. It would be greatly appreciated, if you are a parent or guardian of an S1 pupil, if you could take the time to complete the following survey:
Senior Prizegiving will take place at 7pm on Wednesday 12th September at New Wellwynd Parish Church.
We would like to congratulate all prizewinners and look forward to seeing you on the evening.
Thank you also to our sponsors, Engie, Cairnhill Structures, Albert Bartlett, Guidis, Millers Coaches and Mary Wilson Flowers for their generous contributions.

We made an application to Tesco Bags of Help Grant Scheme for funding to introduce more outdoor education in the PE curriculum. We are delighted that our application has been successful and our project will be put forward to a customer vote in Tesco stores during July and August 2018.
What happens next?
Our project will go forward to a vote in Tesco stores where customers will decide the outcome by voting for their favourite project each time they shop. Voting will take place from Sunday 1st July to Friday 31st August 2018.
Please see below a list of stores taking part in the voting:
To vote, you will need to make a purchase within store of any value. You will receive one token per transaction and it’s not necessary to purchase a carrier bag in order to receive a token.
On Friday 1st June 2018 our S1 and S2 pupils attended Hutchesons Grammar High School for the Scottish Schools Relay (4 X 100m) Championships. This was the first year this school has competed in this event! Our pupils ran very well in their teams and were up against the best of the best that Scotland has to offer at these age groups. In particular, our S2 boys team just missed a place in the final (finishing 7th overall).
This was a fantastic day out for the club and all should be so proud of their achievements this year!
