We Are A Rights Respecting School

At Abronhill Primary School and Nursery Class, children’s rights are at the heart of our school community. We follow the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and support children to understand their rights and the importance of respecting the rights of others.

We have achieved our BRONZE Rights Respecting School Award.

We are proud to be a Rights Respecting School and continue to build on this work as part of our commitment to ensuring every child feels valued, respected and able to succeed.

Children’s rights are part of everyday life in our school. They are reflected in our relationships, our expectations and the way we support children to feel safe, included and ready to learn.

Our children play an active role in promoting rights across the school. Through our Rights Defenders and wider pupil voice groups, children are involved in leading activities, raising awareness and helping to shape decisions that affect them.

We work in partnership with families to support children’s understanding of their rights and to ensure these are reflected both in school and beyond.
