Pupils should meet in George Square at 9.45am. Any outstanding payments and consent slips should be returned to Miss Robertson or Miss Hillen by the end of the school day on 23rd November.

Crazy Hair Day!

Anti-bullying week finished with some fun and ‘uplifting’ hair styles as pupils and teachers celebrated their unique, individual personalities. Two of our S1 pupils, Rachel and Abbie, were delighted to win a voucher for local hairdressers ‘Mosko’ and ‘The Hair Company’ who very kindly donated in support of Anti-Bullying week. Pupils also managed to raise money which will help improve the social area for pupils.

ASDAN Pupils’ Choose Name For Guide Dog Puppy

Coltness High School’s ASDAN pupils’ were given the honour of putting forward a name for a new Guide dog puppy that was born in June 2017. The Guide Dogs for the Blind Chatelherault Cohort of puppy walkers chose the name the group put forward. The new puppy was named ‘Barra’ and she paid the school a visit yesterday with puppy walkers Ann and Margaret who accepted a beautiful blanket on Barra’s behalf. In the past year, school technician Joan Creelman has knitted countless blankets for Guide dog puppies, as have other school staff an pupils over the years. Positive About Dyslexia

Please see below a blue ribbon, this symbolises Dyslexia Awareness Week. We have asked all staff to support us with this venture by wearing a ribbon all week. Pupils will receive a Dyslexia Awareness lesson this week during PHSE. Further to this we have encouraged staff to participate in a pen free lesson (see Miss Tullis in action!). We have given staff some information to help raise awareness, if pupils ask what the ribbon symbolises. Dyslexia • Dyslexia is a difficulty in processing language – based information. • Dyslexia can affect anyone and is different for everyone. • It is not a disability, it is a difference in the way you learn. • It is estimated that 1 in 10 people has dyslexia.

Fifty Word Story Competition Winner

Congratulations to Kirsty from 1A2 on winning the fifty word scary Halloween story competition. It was a difficult decision to pick the winning entry as the standard of the competition was excellent. The second prize winner was Reece from 1S2 and third prize winner was Zoe from 1S1. Their winning stories are displayed in the library and can be read there. Written by Mrs Leckie.

S4 Parents’ Night – Thursday 9th November

There will be an S4 Parents’ Night on Thursday 9th November 4.15pm – 6.45pm. A representative from the SQA will be at this event to discuss with parents and carers changes to the Nat 5 Qualifications. New College Lanarkshire will be at this event to provide information on potential pupil destinations.
