Congratulations!

Hayley Berry competed in the Scottish Schools Athletics Association event on Saturday and performed like a professional! Her attitude and desire to win was apparent from the off and she managed the following results:  Shotput Gold Championship record 11.17m and Discus Gold 31.45m. This was a PB for her in the shotput and she has also met the entry requirements for inclusion in the GBAA at Bedford in both the shotput and discus later on in the year. As always she has done herself, her parents, Law Athletics club and the school proud!

School Wall Inspections

Following the collapse of an external wall at Oxgangs Primary School in Edinburgh in January 2016 North Lanarkshire Council undertook extensive visual inspections of the new school estate and these did not show any reasons for concern. Since then the Report of the Independent Inquiry into the Construction of Edinburgh Schools has been published. Amongst the findings it was suggested that visual inspections should also be supported with intrusive surveys to provide assurance on wall construction. We have therefore decided as a precautionary measure to undertake exploratory inspections of school walls. Structural Engineers will be undertaking an initial walk round of schools to familiar themselves and this will be followed by an inspection of the external walls in selected areas to determine cavity

Italy Trip

Lunch will be purchased daily by pupils so enough spending money should be brought to cover this. Time will be allocated each day for pupils to do this. Money should also be used for general snacks/drinks which pupils will wish to purchase throughout the trip. Medical needs should already have been disclosed. If your child requires medication to be kept this should be given to Miss Mackie on the day of departure with clear instructions. We expect the weather to be warm – mid to high 20’s. Bring sun cream! Daisy the Guide Dog Puppy

Daisy the Guide Dog Puppy and Guide Dog puppy walker Margaret Cullen visited Coltness High School to collect a cheque for £400.00. The money had been raised by the 3rd Year ASDAN pupils selling Easter egg knitted chicks to pupils and staff and since 2013 the group have raised £2524.40 for Guide Dogs. Mrs Creelman, one of our Science Technicians, also gifted 11 blankets that she had knitted and crocheted for new Guide Dog puppies. Thanks very much to Mrs Creelman, the 3rd Year ASDAN pupils and all pupils and staff for supporting Guide Dogs. Written by Mrs Leckie.
