Lunchtime Library Pupils

Today the last Cadbury’s Crème Egg knitted chick was sold by the ASDAN pupils’ who have been fundraising for Guide Dog’s Scotland. Their final total will be revealed soon. Thanks to everyone who bought them.

Everyone at the school would like to welcome PC Paul McWhinnie to the team. Paul will be based between here and St. Aidan’s over the course of the week. He is a part of a bigger roll out of “School Community Police Partnership Officers” across almost all secondary schools in North Lanarkshire. Paul will be involved in such things as delivering our PSHE programmes and will be a great asset to our team to continue to deliver high quality education to the young people of the Wishaw area. British Transplant Games – Youthlink Awards March 2018

At the recent Youthlink awards in Glasgow, two of our senior pupils, Evan Bridges and Jordan Marshall were recognised for their involvement in the #Transplant Stories Project (North Lanarkshire) team which came runners up in the The Digital Youth Work award (Sponsored by Sky Academy) “It was a truly eye-opening experience – one that I will never forget.” That’s what Evan had to say about the #TransplantStories digital team at the 2017 British Transplant Games. This unique partnership between the University of the West of Scotland and North Lanarkshire’s Community Learning and Development youth work team saw 11 young people from schools, employability hubs and Modern Apprenticeships come together to learn new digital skills. World Book Day Winner

Well Done World Book Day Winner! Coltness High School held several book related activities to celebrate World Book Day. One of our first year pupil’s won Mrs Leckie’s library competition to match a set of book characters to a well-known author. Free Online Learning Modules Dyslexia Scotland are offering a fantastic CPD opportunity free of charge. They have created 3 online modules to raise awareness and develop your knowledge of dyslexia. The modules, which support GTC Scotland Professional Standards, Professional Update and Professional Recognition, have been developed primarily for teachers, school management and GTCS registered local authority education officers.
