S2 CAD Workshop – Motherwell Campus, New College Lanarkshire

There is an amazing trip for S2 pupils to take advantage of – an excellent curriculum-linked opportunity to experience real design, engineering, and STEM learning in action.  Spaces are limited to a max of 20, S2 pupils who have an interest in this pathway.

These workshops offer a fantastic and timely opportunity for S2 pupils as they prepare to make informed decisions about their S3/4 subject choices.

Why This Opportunity Matters

This workshop is designed to support pupils at a key transition point within the Broad General Education (BGE) phase as they begin to personalise their curriculum. It directly links to pathways within:

  • Design & Manufacture
  • Graphic Communication / Computer Graphics
  • Engineering Science
  • Architecture, Construction & STEM careers

For many pupils who may be swaying between subjects or unsure about choosing a design, engineering, or technology-based route, this hands-on experience will give them:

  • Real insight into industry-standard software
  • Practical understanding of design processes and problem solving
  • A chance to explore the creative and technical progression pathways available in the Senior Phase and beyond

Any enthusiastic pupils are welcome, but those considering these subjects or related careers will benefit greatly.

Workshop Format

Each school will attend a block of 3 x 40-minute sessions covering:

  • Architectural CAD – modelling a small house using Revit
  • Engineering CAD
  • Design Challenge – a practical, hands-on activity
