Each summer Scottish Water runs a water safety campaign to encourage everyone to stay safe around water. Reservoirs, rivers and lochs can be popular places for visitors and we want everyone to enjoy them safely.
A big part of our social media campaign this year has focused on educating people about the risks of swimming and diving into reservoirs – there are lots of hidden dangers like underwater machinery, strong currents and deep, cold water. This harrowing film from our friends at Welsh Water shows why it’s not a good idea to go swimming at reservoirs https://youtu.be/upeL9yogTAg
Another great film from RNLI explains how you should FLOAT TO LIVE to overcome cold water shock http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OBCFEEZe1U
Lastly, pupils can find our water safety advice on our website at http://www.scottishwater.co.uk/takecare
