Cathy MacPhail, author of 45 children’s and teen fiction books, visited 2nd year pupils’ on Tuesday 3rd May. She gave a really interesting talk on how she began her writing career and how she was inspired to write her first book in 1994 after her daughter was bullied. The book was entitled ‘Run Zan Run’ and Cathy says this book changed her life. The pupils were also given a few hints and tips on how to get an idea for a story. Cathy says “I like writing about real-life themes. I always say that for me the real magic is where the idea comes from.” One of the highlights of the visit was a viewing of the trailer from the film ‘Another Me’, adapted from one of Cathy’s books.
