All senior pupils took part in a Political Literacy event ‘Why young people should vote’? This involved pupils taking part in topical debates surrounding key issues that effect and will impact on young people, the pupils then took part in debating the importance of having political representation in parliament for young people. This event was also aimed at encouraging all young people to register to vote.
S1 pupils will be going on a Social Subjects trip to Edinburgh Dungeons, Dynamic Earth & Edinburgh Castle in June this year.
This year the Social Subject department will be visiting Belgium & France on the Battlefield Tour, the pupils will be laying wreaths in honour of the men from the local community who fought and died for their King and Country. If any members of the community have lost a relative of family friend in WW1 please get in touch and hopefully we can lay a wreath to honour them.
In April this year, 50 pupils from Coltness will attend a Theatre performance called ‘Remember Remember’ produced by the Drama Department in Clyde Valley High School working with Made for You, the aim of this performance is to address the key issues surrounding sectarianism.
