SCOTTISH CONCERT BAND FESTIVAL SUCCESS

The school’s sax ensemble rehearses weekly, in preparation for multiple performances throughout the year. The full range of the saxophone family, from alto to baritone, is used in the ensemble. Under the direction of Woodwind Instructor, Chris Cruickshank, the ensemble performs both classical and contemporary repertoire. Members of the group also perform with the school’s concert band and various North Lanarkshire Council music groups. This year the group competed in the Scottish Concert Band Festival on Saturday 30th November where they received a Gold Plus award. This is a fantastic result as it is only their first time participating in the competition. We now look forward to seeing them compete in the finals in Perth in March 2020.
