Friday 25th September

Another busy week for Primary 5. In Literacy , Mrs Manning taught us our new spelling words on Monday and we wrote sentences for these. We have also been reading aloud our reading books and answering questions. Dahl and Morpurgo group will be getting a new book next week! We were learning letter writing this week. We had to try and use at least 2 good connectives and openers in our letter. Also 2 great WOW words! We also watched CBBC Newsround and took notes on the main stories of the week.

We had the i-pads for the first time today and we started the Sumdog competition. Mrs manning was also able to help pupils who have been struggling to log on for homework. Also we were learning how to use  SWAY  to make a presentation about Ancient Egypt.

In Maths, the Circles have been learning about Prime numbers. They have  also been learning about using brackets to group friendly numbers in order to make the calculation easier. They used brackets for addition and multiplication sums. Squares and Triangles have been working on a similar strategy reordering numbers to make their calculations easier to work out.

We have also walked round to our school garden a couple of days to look for minibeasts! At our assembly Mrs Robertson told us all about National Maths week which starts on Monday!

Harry brought in his trophy from the Boys brigade to show the class.

We hope you have enjoyed reading about our week.
