Our week of work – 19/10/20 – 23/10/20

Numeracy

This week we used our i-pads to continue testing our mental Maths skills on Topmarks. We have been focusing on number bonds and recording our results in our numeracy jotters. We also started our new beyond number topic of measure this week. We have been looking at non-standard units and measuring objects inside and outside the classroom using our hands and feet. We estimated the length and then measured, it was amazing fun:

Literacy and Health and Wellbeing

This week we read a book called “Sadsville” as a whole class. This book tied in well with our focus on emotions and feelings. We had excellent discussions about sadness, what can make us sad, worried, unhappy and the reasons why we feel this way. We also shared ideas on how we can help others when they are feeling this way. Reading the book led us to create a bag of worries and also design and create our very own worry monsters. Writing was also extremely fun this week. In Term 1 we all drew and described our very own witch or wizard. This week we then drew and described our witch/wizards familiar – a spiritual animal companion. Everyone worked fantastically well and 6 were chosen for our star writers wall! Congratulations to Jack L & Daniel (2 star), Calisse & Aarron (3 star), Eva & Sophia (4 star).

New Topic

We began looking at our new topic this week: The Human Body. We made a list of everything we already know and questions we would like to answer. We demonstrated a great knowledge of the human body already which is fantastic.

We are also currently creating a calm corner in class for pupils to go to if they ever feel overwhelmed, worried, upset etc. We have been creating pictures and decorations for the corner this week. Hopefully it will be completed next week and there will be pictures to be shared.

Once again our class behaviour in the dinner hall has been outstanding! We were once again rewarded an extra 15 mins outdoors asa result which is a fantastic achievement!
