Hello Mull Class

Hello Mull class,

Hope you all had a good Monday!

Tuesday morning is P.E morning for Mull Class. If you can, get out for some exercise. You could go for a long walk, a run or get out on your scooter or bike. Anything that you enjoy and gets you moving to keep you fit and active.

On a Tuesday afternoon we usually do our writing programme. You could follow the usual programme then make your marks with water out in the garden with the hose or a watering can.

Remember you can keep up with the day and date with the daily calendar and could read your book of the week.

Keep working hard and helping out with a daily chore and develop those independence skills by organising own snacks.

Have a great Tuesday everyone. Keep safe and well.

Good Morning Mull Class

Good morning Mull Class,

I hope you all had lots of fun over the Easter holidays.

It’s Monday again and if you wanted to you could look at the daily calendar and find the Monday song, the month and the date!

You could choose a new story of the week to keep those listening and reading skills up.

You could also set a chore for the week ahead, taking some responsibility around the house and practice your functional skills.

Monday would be our rebound morning so if you have a trampoline at home you could get out for a bounce on it.

On a Monday afternoon it would be our jass afternoon, so if you are going out for your daily walk or exercise why not do some maths at the same time.

You could collect as many sticks as you can and when you get home count them and put them in order of size. Then if you want you could make a stick trail for yourself or someone else to follow. I will upload some visuals to support this.

What ever you do today have a great day and enjoy yourselves.

Happy World Autism Day

Many of the pupils who attend Haysholm are diagnosed with Autism.  The Coronavirus situation is very challenging due to the massive change in routine that it has caused.  If you can create some sense of routine and structure and home, this will help tremendously. Use of visuals will help your child know and understand what is expected of them.

There are some excellent resources on our website in the ‘For Parents’ section that you can use to help support understanding and predictability including the school closure kit.    If you would like a hard copy of this or any other visuals for home, please do not hesitate to get in touch and we can deliver.

Meantime, let’s celebrate the skills, talents, unique abilities that our pupils do have … every single one of them brings a smile to our faces.

Happy World Autism Day

French toast

I am learning about France for blog

Hello everyone,

The topic this term was France. We were focusing on French food, French art and French music.

So far this term we have made and tasted croissants and looked at and recreated ballet dancers like the French artist Degas. We also chose and listened to some French music.

I have uploaded the power point slide show that we look at and listen to at the beginning of our topic each week.

I have also uploaded a recipe for French toast for our French Food of the week for you to make and taste at home.

Hope you have a great Thursday

Tacpac

Hi Everyone,

Here is  a link from TacPac that offers parents set 5 of Tacpac free of charge for 3 months to use at home. Thought this would be useful for some of our children who enjoy Tacpac sessions at school. They are also compiling a series of short training videos on Facebook to help everyone get started and to get the best out of the sessions.  Parents should click the link below and at checkout add the code 8Q7A3TXS. Once done direct parents to www.facebook.com/TacpacLtd to watch the short video.

Tacpac draws together touch and music to create a structured session of sensory communication between two people

Hope this is helpful 😊
