Primary 4

Term Three has been a very busy term already! Primary Four have been developing their understanding of money in the real world and using strategies to add money to work out the total cost of a             person’s shopping. We have also been using subtraction to work out the change the customer will receive. Primary 4 are also more aware of how technology and credit cards can be used in a real-life context to purchase goods instead of using coins and notes. We have also continued to learn and use new strategies during mental maths to help us solve problems more efficiently. We learn this through        Number Talks and we look forward to sharing these strategies with our families soon during our PATPAL. Within literacy, we have been learning more about how to write a newspaper report. In our recent PATPAL for Talk for Writing, we showed our families how to create a text map for the story of ‘The Local Hero’ who saved Red Riding Hood. We were able to learn this story using pictures and actions without using the text! Primary Four are now working on their        innovation which will show how much progress we have made and how we have used our special toolkit to help us write an effective and interesting newspaper report. Primary Four have been working hard to prepare for their First Confession which will take place on the 11th March. We now have a better understanding of the               Sacrament of Reconciliation and we look forward to our special night.
