Weekly Update – 29 June 2026

Football Festival – Thank you!

Everyone had great fun on Friday morning playing our World Cup finals and we are sure this is something Charlie would have approved of.   View a snapshot of the event: by clicking here.  Thank you for supporting the “Be More Charlie” charity, established by the Melville family to support families in Scotland affected by childhood cancer – £700 was raised!

P7 Leavers

There is a busy week ahead for our P7 leavers.  On Friday 3rd July we have the end of term celebration starting at 9:30 am at Tayport Parish Church.   All P7 children have two tickets for parent/carers who wish to attend.  This ticket allows access to the church between 9-9:15am.   Other visitors should arrive around 9:15am.  Due to the Church’s risk assessment numbers of visitors will be capped and there is no standing behind pews allowed.

Only P7s can have school shirts signed and this can happen after morning break.

At 3pm –when the final bell goes the P7s will exit via the Sports Hall door.  All the other classes will create a pathway that P7 will walk through around to the main entrance.  Silly string should only be used by P7 children and at the front of the school.

Retirements

Mrs MacMaster retires on Wednesday and Mrs Heggie on Friday.  We thank them again for all their hard work and commitment to the children of Tayport over the years.

Other Staffing updates

Our staffing was confirmed at lunchtime on Friday, allowing us to share planned classes for August.

Miss Gallacher has moved into a full-time Learning Support role and will be with us three days per week from August. Miss Harrison is also now able to remain with us on a permanent basis. Miss Irvine has returned from secondment and will take on the P3 class next session.

As a result of going down to 8 classes from 9, sadly Mr Myles, Miss Phillips and Mrs Fearn will be moving onto new opportunities.  Mrs Gillespie, Pupil Support Assistant, is also moving onto another school in Fife.  We thank them all for their valued contribution to our school and wish them every success in their next steps.

We are very much looking forward to the new session, with a strong and committed team in place, ready to work together to provide the best possible experiences and outcomes for all of our children.

Ferryport Nursery

Throughout the school holiday Ferryport nursery is being renovated.  Therefore the staff and children who attend will be based at Tayport Primary School from 6 July to 14 August.
