For several years, Carnegie Primary School has received Pupil Equity Fund (PEF), more recently referred to as Scottish Attainment Challenge Fund (SAC), with a focus on closing the attainment gap between the most and least disadvantaged children. At Carnegie, the funding continues to support activities and interventions with planned outcomes to improve Literacy, Numeracy and Health and Wellbeing, and to help provide improved opportunities for your child’s learning. This session we are pleased to receive £110,250 allowing us to continue this level of targeted support making a difference to our most vulnerable families impacted by poverty. This session we will extend the funding further into our School Community offering opportunity for family learning with a focus on skills for learning, life and work.
This funding is to be spent at the discretion of the school working in partnership with Fife Council.

Mrs Paterson and Mrs Nicholson are our Acting Principal Teachers. Their responsibility is to work towards closing the attainment gap for Literacy and Numeracy across the school, specifically for our children who are supported by the Scottish Attainment Fund.
In order to achieve this in the best possible way, they:
• Work frequently and closely with targeted pupils across the school. They assess gaps in learning and put specific interventions and support in place, to help bridge these gaps and enable pupils to feel more confident in their learning in Literacy and Numeracy
• Take part in collaborative work with Class Teachers. These collaboratives involve joint planning for Literacy and Numeracy, modelling of lessons, team teaching with the Class Teacher and observing the Class Teacher deliver lessons. Each of these sessions are followed by reflective discussions that
focus on strengths and areas of development
• Create regular home learning videos that focus on specific approaches to Numeracy and Literacy, used here at Carnegie on a daily basis. These videos can be accessed on our Home Learning
section of the school website. They are designed to support you in supporting your child’s learning at home.
