Learning

In this section of the school website you will find key information relating to teaching and learning based on curricular areas. This includes a range of suggested resources and links to websites which may support aspects of learning at home.

The 4 part model is used to structure all learning experiences in Carnegie. This provides a familiar and consistent approach to learning, teaching and assessment for all children. The 4 part model consists of

  • sharing of learning intention and success criteria
  • learning experience
  • assessment opportunities
  • plenary

The children can use the language of learning to talk about their learning, how successful they are and identify next steps. This is supported by the class teacher to ensure appropriate support and challenge.

Curriculum Rationale

Our Curriculum Rationale is a live document. At the core is asks ‘What do we want for our children and how will we work together to achieve this?

The curriculum rationale is much more than just a record of learning.  It includes the ethos, attitudes and relationships which create the high quality of life in our school.
