Welcome to Benarty and Dunmore

Welcome to Benarty Primary School website.

At Benarty Primary School we work in partnership with our children,  families , staff and the wider community to create a secure and happy environment which provides the highest possible standard of education to meet the needs of all.

Our school values were agreed through consultation with the whole school community to represent what is most important for us here at Benarty.  At Benarty P.S. we ASPIRE in all we do and say. By showing these values in our school, we are creating a positive  ethos and culture for children to learn and thrive.

Benarty Primary offers spacious and well laid out classrooms for the children. We offer our children a safe, secure and caring environment in which to be successful and fulfil their learning ambitions. We also want to ensure that all of the children are empowered to maximise their potential.

Across the campus of Benarty Primary School, Benarty Nursery classes, additional Support Need classes and Standalone Dunmore nursery, there is a roll of 423 children. The school itself is a large primary school with 12 mainstream classes. The roll of the mainstream school is 252 (as of June 2023). There are four Additional Support classes which currently have a total of 44 children (16 children from locality schools) attending from the wider geographical area.

The school day is from 9 am to 3 pm, Monday – Friday.

Benarty has a Nursery with 41 children (June 2023) who attend from 9am until 3pm. Dunmore Nursery also comes under Benarty’s headship. In the 3 -5 year olds there are 64 children (June 2023). In our under 3s there are 38 children (June 2023)

The school delivers the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence and and offers a broad general education for all in line with guidelines given to all Scottish schools under the control of local authorities.  We try to encourage and include learning in the community and the local environment to enrich all the children’s experiences.

The school has an active and successful Parent Council and families are frequent visitors with some helping in the school. We actively encourage family involvement and promote an open door policy. We are always happy to discuss any aspects of the work going on in school. We are confident that we respond to all families in a timely and efficient manner. This is recognised and appreciated by our families.

When you visit Benarty you will find a welcoming, respectful, inclusive and caring environment.
