The school won the Fife Schools “Battle of the Bands” competition last night. Vertigo, our band, competed against 13 other bands with a breathtaking 10 minutes set – the three adjudicators were unanimous in their decision.
The band won £500 to spend in Kenny’s music and, of course, the title ‘Fife Schools Battle of the Bands Champions, 2017’.
If you missed the chance to see Vertigo perform, they will be playing at various other school and community events throughout this term.
Well done to everyone who represented Bell Baxter at the Scottish Schools Showjumping, Howe Equestrian on Sunday, 29th October. Jessika Rennie placed 5th individually in the 85cm out of 80 riders. Our team of Ailsa Roberts, Robyn Black, Emma Webster and Sophie McDonald came 4th in the 1m class with Ailsa Roberts also picking up 2nd place individually in the same class which had 40 riders in it.
Well done again to all riders.
Some of the S3 Duke of Edinburgh’s Award class headed for a walk up to the Listening Post at Hawklaw tonight after school. Applying navigation skills learned in the classroom was key tonight.
The sunset above Cupar was beautiful tonight.
The training expedition for the Borneo expedition was held in Aviemore this weekend. Thirty-seven pupils and six staff spent Saturday and Sunday working on the skills they will need to use as part of this summer’s expedition – team building, problem-solving, menu planning, cooking, personal safety, hygiene and first aid to name but a few.
Hopefully, the weather the will be slightly warmer in Borneo – with the exception of the trek on Mount Kinabalu – than it was in chilly Aviemore.
Congratulations to Duncan Nimmo (S4) and Joel Smurthwaite (S4) who have been selected as part of the 2019 UK contingent to attend the World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) in West Virgina, USA. The Explorer Scouts will be part of a 45,000 gathering of young people from across 150 countries – the biggest international Scouting event.
