We are recruiting !

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar are currently recruiting for an apprentice pipe band drumming instructor.

The 3 year post, which is supported largely from funding by Scottish Schools Pipes & Drums Trust, Muaithebhal Community Windfarm Trust, Urras Oighreachd Ghabhsainn and Horshader Community Development, will allow for the development of a drum core to support the Lewis & Harris Youth Pipe Band.

The successful applicant will provide quality pipe band drumming tuition to assigned pupils in selected schools in Lewis & Harris  and contribute to the Instrumental Music  Service in relation to pupils, parents, staff and schools as well as working in partnership with the LHYPB.

The band, which currently has a membership of around 28 pipers and 1 drummer, have performed at many local events including the Dileab concert in Stornoway last year (title photo), which featured local bands Face the West, The tumbling Souls and headliners Skippinish alongside musicians and singers from schools in Lewis & Harris.

The band also took part in a concert in September 2019 which was the culmination of a 3 day visit by the bands of the  Royal Regiment of Scotland.
