Eilidh Young grew up in Gosford, NSW, Australia. With both her parents being Pipers she was introduced to Piping and Scottish Music from a very early age. She is a classically trained pianist, as well as a Highland Dancer.
Eilidh joined the Northern Suburbs Pipe Band based in Sydney, Australia when she was 13 years old, taught herself to play the snare drum, and within a year she was competing with the band.
Eilidh moved to Scotland in 2014, to further her education in snare drumming and immerse herself in the vibrant Pipe Band culture. She has also travelled extensively to play and dance at folk festivals and Military Tattoos across Russia and Kazakhstan.
Eilidh completed an honours degree in Traditional Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2020. During her degree she taught snare drumming at the National Piping Centre, Cleeves Primary School (Glasgow) and the Preston Lodge High School juvenile band (East Lothian). She is currently a member of the Grade 1 Shotts and Dykehead Pipe Band, and is a drumming instructor for the Lewis and Harris Youth Pipe Band as well as being the newest addition to the CnES Instrumental Music Service team.
