P3b.1 Assembly

A big thank you to everyone who came to our 80’s themed assembly this afternoon. We had  a brilliant time and it was lovely that so many of you joined in with our games so enthusiastically.  I imagine many of you may be spending your weekend skipping and playing with elastics!

P3b.2 Assembly

P3b.2 are looking forward to their class assembly next week and have been working hard to learn words and dances. Every child has a very important job to do next week and I’m sure they will want to share their job with you. Please practise lines if your child has a reading part. They have lines in their school bags.

Thank you, as always for your continued support.

Homework

Just a wee reminder that the homework jotters are to be handed in tomorrow, 6th March.

The next few weeks are going to be very busy in Primary 3. We have our parent assemblies, Reverend Boag is coming in to talk to us and we are hoping to organise a trip.

Because of this, we will be spending time in class consolidating the previous sounds taught in Primary 3 and focusing on other aspects of literacy such as sequencing, cloze procedures and comprehension strategies. Homework jotters will be sent home and time can be spent going over sounds/common words that your child has found tricky and are highlighted amber.  For extension, children can work on creating sentences and thinking about structure  by adding e.g. adverbs, similes and adjectives.

After the Easter holidays we will go back to introducing new sounds and common words.

P3b.2 fashion designers

P3b.2 have created their own 80’s fashion designs. There are bright coloured outfits, neon accessories, leg warmers and lots of curly perms.

Welcoming a Baby P3b.1

Primary 3b.1 have been  learning about how different religions welcome babies into their communities and families. If possible, could we please have some baby pictures of the children sent in for a fun guessing game and to add to our display. We promise they will be returned! Many thanks in advance.

On Monday 9th March, Rev Boag will be visiting the class to talk to them about how Christians welcome a baby. It would be great if the children could think up an interesting question to ask our visitor.

P3b Assemblies

P3b.1 and P3b.2 will be sharing their learning at assemblies on:

Friday 6th March  – P3b.1

and

Friday 13th March – P3b.2

It would be lovely if the children could wear their uniforms with an accessory from the 1980’s if they are able. Legwarmers, deeley boppers, brightly coloured beads, fingerless gloves, hats, sweatbands etc!

Dog’s Trust

We were lucky enough to receive a visit from the Dog’s Trust today. We were all a little disappointed that no real dogs came along but we really enjoyed hearing all about the work that this charity does. We learned how to take care of dogs and also how to keep ourselves safe around them. We had a grrrrrrrreat time!

Could we please ask that homework jotters are returned to school this Friday. We will be assessing sounds and common words next week. Thank you 🙂

P3b.2 I.C.T.

P3b.2 have been using chrome books for I.C.T. lessons. The children have learned to  log in to glow using their glow usernames and passwords. This week, the children opened a word document, typed a sentence (about potatoes), changed the size, font and colour.

Maddie created a lovely document and achieved Proud Pupil for her hard work!

P3b are growing their own potatoes!

Primary 3b received boxes of potatoes in the post from Grow Your Own Potatoes.  We have chitted  the potatoes and they are on the window sill in our classroom. We have regional and rocket potatoes to grow.

Watch this space for more potato updates. 😀
