P3b Local Area Homework Project

Good Morning!

P3b have a homework project which they will bring home in their schoolbags today.  The children have been learning about the local area in class and recently went out for a walk as far as Broom Park.

We would like the children with their families to learn something new about the local area.  All of the guidance is on the sheet which will come home today.  They may write their information, take photos or even draw a picture.

The children will present their projects in class on Friday, 22nd November.

Thank you,

P3b Teachers

P3b.2 Owl Magic Visit

Primary 3 were so lucky to have a visit from Owl Magic this afternoon.  The children learned lots of facts about owls and even got the chance to hold an owl.  Enjoy looking at our photos!

French visitor

P3b.2 had the pleasure of meeting Sandrine this morning.  Sandrine teaches Primary 1 in a school in Cannes.  She came to our school to find out more about teaching in Scotland.  The children enjoyed asking Sandrine questions about the school day in France.  They were shocked to hear that children at her school only go to school 4 days per week, but thought they were better off when they heard that a typical French school day starts at 8.30am and ends at 4.30pm!

We have swapped addresses with Sandrine as we are keen to have a link with her school, ‘Ecole Eugene Vial’.

We look forward to writing letters, sending cards and finding out more about our new French friends.

Outdoor Learning P3b.2

Just a gentle reminder that P3b.2 will need waterproof clothing and wellies for outdoor learning on Friday, 25th October. Thank you.

P3b.2 Outdoor Learning

P3b.2 are using natural materials to make their initials. They used autumn leaves, twigs, stones and pebbles and even a bug!

We even found a hidden den which was constructed by some P6 pupils. we got quite a surprise when Mr Connor’s cat popped his head out!

P3b.2 Thank you cards

P3b.2 made beautiful thank you cards for Lorraine and Wilma from Kirkhill Kitchen to thank them for a super baking experience last Friday!

P3b.2 Baking

This afternoon, P3b.2 made apple crumble using the apples from our school eco garden. We were very lucky to have Lorraine and Wilma help us  and for allowing us to use the kitchen. We started by washing our hands and putting on aprons. Then the children were split into two groups. One group peeled the apples and the other group made the crumble.

We waited 20 minutes for the apple crumble to bake and were delighted to take a portion home to share with our families.

All of the children said they enjoyed their school baking experience! It really was a lot of fun.

Next week, we will write the recipe for our Writing lesson.
