P3b.1 Seesaw

Can all P3b.1 children try logging on to Seesaw and leave their name as a response on the assigned activity?

To do this this –

  • either open Seesaw on a PC or download the app to a tablet or phone.
  • Select  ‘I’m a student’
  • Enter pupil’s email which is glow username@glow.sch.uk. (all pupils were given a card with their glow username on Friday)
  • Enter password – this is their sumdog password followed by the number 1 (no spaces)

Any problems we can sort out in class this week!

Thank you!

Mrs Lord

P3b.1 Assembly

A big thank you to everyone who came to our 80’s themed assembly this afternoon. We had  a brilliant time and it was lovely that so many of you joined in with our games so enthusiastically.  I imagine many of you may be spending your weekend skipping and playing with elastics!

Homework

Just a wee reminder that the homework jotters are to be handed in tomorrow, 6th March.

The next few weeks are going to be very busy in Primary 3. We have our parent assemblies, Reverend Boag is coming in to talk to us and we are hoping to organise a trip.

Because of this, we will be spending time in class consolidating the previous sounds taught in Primary 3 and focusing on other aspects of literacy such as sequencing, cloze procedures and comprehension strategies. Homework jotters will be sent home and time can be spent going over sounds/common words that your child has found tricky and are highlighted amber.  For extension, children can work on creating sentences and thinking about structure  by adding e.g. adverbs, similes and adjectives.

After the Easter holidays we will go back to introducing new sounds and common words.

Welcoming a Baby P3b.1

Primary 3b.1 have been  learning about how different religions welcome babies into their communities and families. If possible, could we please have some baby pictures of the children sent in for a fun guessing game and to add to our display. We promise they will be returned! Many thanks in advance.

On Monday 9th March, Rev Boag will be visiting the class to talk to them about how Christians welcome a baby. It would be great if the children could think up an interesting question to ask our visitor.

P3b Assemblies

P3b.1 and P3b.2 will be sharing their learning at assemblies on:

Friday 6th March  – P3b.1

and

Friday 13th March – P3b.2

It would be lovely if the children could wear their uniforms with an accessory from the 1980’s if they are able. Legwarmers, deeley boppers, brightly coloured beads, fingerless gloves, hats, sweatbands etc!

Homework

New homework grids will be given out on Monday 24th, please stick these into the homework jotters. You can use the remainder of this week to complete the previous grid.  Many thanks, Mrs L and Mrs K and Mrs D.

P3b.1 Presentations

P3b.1 worked really really hard on their homework presentation and we loved hearing them this afternoon. We didn’t’ have time to hear them all so we are looking forward to more when we are back next week!

80’s inspired Art

P3b.1 have been exploring 1980’s pop art and graffiti. We tried to copy the style of Keith Haring. He became very popular in the 1980’s when he could be found drawing on the New York subway walls and ceilings. People became used to seeing his work there. We used chalk pastels in bright colours and outlined the figures in black to create our own versions of his art. We think they look great!

Chinese New Year

To celebrate Chinese New Year – the year of the rat – primary 3 had the chance to sample some delicious Chinese cookery. We ate noodles with vegetables and wraps and a sweet tasty sauce. A big thank you to our fantastic dinner ladies who made it for us.

80’s fun

P3b.1 had fun trying out some toys from the 80’s as part of our topic. We loved seeing all the items which were sent in from home. Thank you!
