P7b have been sharing their knowledge of mental health with our class. We enjoyed discussing the topic, looking out for signs  and ways to help. Thank you P7b!
Evacuation
During drama we took part in some role play. We talked about our emotions and how we would feel if we were children living during World War II and were separated from our families during the evacuation process.
Monday 23rd September – Family Numeracy and Maths Homework Challenge
Being numerate helps us to function responsibly in everyday life and contribute effectively to society. It increases our opportunities within the world of work and establishes foundations which can be built upon through lifelong learning. Numeracy is not only a subset of mathematics; it is also a life skill which permeates and supports all areas of learning, allowing young people access to the wider curriculum. Monday 23rd September – Family Numeracy and Maths Homework Challenge
Families can choose one activity (or more if you wish) from the grid and work on this together over the next two weeks. How you record and share your homework is up to you! There are some suggestions on the grid but please feel free to be as inventive as you wish. This homework will last two weeks. On Friday 4th October, the eldest child in each family should bring in their family homework and the pupils will get a chance to share their activity with the school community. The homework should be carried out as a family and each activity can be simplified or extended to allow everyone to take part. There are lots of real life challenges to allow our pupils to see the benefit numeracy and maths has on our everyday life. These activities are designed to be fun, active and engaging for all our learners. It will not only promote their numeracy, but it will also develop their problem solving, creativity and collaboration skills.
Please share your learning activities with us on twitter! @kirkhillPS and use our #

Week 4
This week in P7, we have been learning the acronym Bounce Back in Health and Well being.
In maths the Archimedes have been learning and revising rounding to 1,2,3 and 4 decimal places.
The Fibonacci have been revising 24 hour and 12 hour time am and pm.
Pythagoras have been learning algebra. We have also been practicing our times tables by doing a new game, Speed Table Challenge .
Today it is drop dead Friday and the whole class  acted like they were dead at 2.00pm. The reason for this is that it is Friday the 13th and a full moon! Lucky Mrs Hussain!
Overall we’ve had a very good week and we are looking forward to the next one.
This Past Week!
This past week in P7a we started our WWII topic and went on our Safety In The Park trip to Arthurlie Park seen in other posts! It was awesome and so much fun!
In maths the Archimedes group learnt about long multiplication and revised time. The Fibonacci group revised and learnt 24 hour and 12 hour time. The Pythagoras group learned about algebra!
Third week in P7 is awesome already! 🙂
Bikability
On Monday we brought our bikes in to be checked before we begin bikeability. We learned about the M check, starting at the front tyre, up to th handle bars and breaks, down to the pedals and chain, up to the seat and back down to the front tyre. We also checked our helmet size and that they were correctly fitted. If we have things to fix we were given a checklist away with us. We are looking forward to starting after the holidays!
Making Soup And Pizza
In class we made soup and pizza. In the soup we cubed potatoes, cut onions, peeled carrots and then we chopped them too. We also put in stock pots and carefully cleaned lentils. Then we stirred it. For the pizza we had groups. We had flour and we made dough. We put it in a tray, covered it and left it for a while. My group put sweetcorn, mozzarella and some normal cheese on top. We put in the oven and waited. When it was done it looked so good and it was better than Dominoes. My group was proud of our pizza. Â
