Accessing Mental Wellbeing support for Children & Young People 8-18
Children and young people aged 8 -18 will now be offered more timely and appropriate support for their mental and emotional wellbeing. Ensuring that the right support is given at the right time in non-emergency situations.
This work is being led by a new multidisciplinary team, known as the Healthier Minds Team. Membership of the new multidisciplinary team includes personnel from CAMHS, Children 1st, Educational Psychology, Social Work, RAMH and School Nursing. Youth Counselling will be accessed via the Healthier Minds Team.
Healthier Minds Screening Hub
The Hub will assess and allocate the most appropriate support based on individual needs. The Healthier Minds Team are fully represented at the hub meeting each week.
If you are concerned about your child or young person:
- Please contact your child/young person’s school and discuss your concerns with their Pastoral Teacher and/or member of School Leadership Team.
- Your child or young person will be discussed at the school’s Joint Support Team (JST) meeting, support through school will be reviewed.
- If there are no further supports available in school a referral may be made to Healthier Minds at the discretion of the JST.
- The Pastoral Teacher or member of School Leadership Team will discuss the outcome with the young person or their parent/carer.
- If a referral to Healthier Minds is required, consent will be obtained from the young person or parent/carer.
What happens next?
- The needs of your child or young person will be reviewed at the screening hub.
- A member of the Healthier Minds Team or school will be in touch to discuss the outcome.
This service should only be used in non-emergency situations.
