PRIMARY 5B WEEK BEGINNING 15/11/21

Book Week

STEM: A Story

Eva L – In STEM: A Story, we were doing some experiments from George’s Marvellous Experiments. The first experiment: we chopped gummy cherries in to a cup and then we put some water and bicarbonate of soda on top. Then after 30 minutes, we went back and added vinegar in to it. It all started bubbling and the cherries were swelling.

Zunairah – For the second experiment we had a piece of string, a balloon, a straw and a piece of tape. We had to get the balloon to travel from one end of the string to the other without touching it or blowing it. We had to figure it out all by ourselves. We had to blow up the balloon, not tie it, cellotape it to the straw. The straw then had the string through it. Then we let go of the balloon and it moved.

Outdoor Stories:

Omar – In Outdoor Learning, we were acting out famous nursery stories. My team acted out Hansel and Grettle.

Starbooks Cafe:

Hishaam – We had a cafe where we had to share our favourite books with each other and write down what we liked about them. We also had a special treat of a choice of cupcake and juice from the cafe.

Expressive Arts (Drama)

Mehr – In Drama, we were learning to improvise and we were playing some games. Later Miss Estlick picked people who had to improvise a scene and the audience had to guess what it was about.

Social Studies (Topic)

Alfie B – In Social Studies we were making mood boards from the 1950s-1990s fashion on the chromebooks. When we were finished we could come up to the front and present our creativity to the class.

Numeracy and Mathematics

Finlay – In Maths, The Mathletes have been learning about length and adding lengths by converting cm and m.

Harry Fo – In Maths, The Number Ninjas have been learning about addition and subtraction. Half of the week we did addition and the other half we did subtraction. We used 3-digits.

Health and Wellbeing (PE)

Chloe – In PE we were doing hockey. We played games against one another and then we had a tournament.

Pupil News

Andrew – For Pupil News, I brought in my grandad’s old Davy Lamp that is in my livingroom. I showed the class and some people got to hold it and it was very heavy.
