“In Drama we were doing vocal warm ups, such as tongue twisters. Then, we did a story by adding one word each. Later, we moved the tables and we mimed scenes at the front. Mrs Hutchinson was describing what they were watching on TV. We also did dinner time, with slow motion sections. Then, we did a slow motion football and basketball scene and then we did them in fast forward.” Charlotte

“In P.E we worked on our stamina by running for 5 minutes without stopping. Then we played a dodge ball game.” Edward

“On Monday Tony from Active Schools came in. All the groups had a turn at leading a game. The people leading the game were coaches they had to organise and explain the game to their classmates.” Zakir

“In the woodland we learnt how to use a compass. It was actually quite tricky. First we used the compass to face different directions. Then Mr Flood told us to go certain directions for a certain number of steps, we had to try and stop on a certain point.” Cameron

“In Numeracy we were doing rounding to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10000 100 000 and 1000 000.” Dawud

“In Writing we wrote comparative reports. We wrote about polar animals (penguins and polar bears) focusing on their diet, habitat and adaptations.” Ava

“In topic we learnt about food webs. A food web is lots of connected food chains. After we learnt about it we made Arctic food web posters using the internet to look things up.” Myra

We made posters for Science Week about growth. Rosie, Becki and Myra made a poster about the growth of humans from cavemen to now. They were our class winners.

Then, we played a game called ‘Master, Master who am I’. Someone was blindfolded and someone else did a voice, the blindfolded person had to guess. Mrs Hutchinson even had a go!”- Charlotte

“For British Science week we were looking at designing a robot or machine that would help with jobs around a farm and get around problems that happen when other machines do those jobs, such as compacted soil and pollution. To see what jobs the robots had to do we got a plate of peas and sweetcorn and had to try and separate the peas and leave sweetcorn behind.” Becki

“In music we had a stave and we wrote down different notes. We tried to draw the treble clef. Some people also played a song on the glockenspiels- “When the Saints Go Marching In.” ” Kaitlyn and Dawud

“In the woodland we were picking up leaves and rubbish to help the environment. The rubbish can get animals stuck or could choke them. We picked up the leaves because in winter they cover the plants to help keep them warm, but in spring they block the light.” Olivia

“In writing we were started learning comparative reports. We examined a text about dragons and unicorns. It compared the two things. We picked out features like subheadings, pictures, captions, technical vocabulary, formal writing and comparative phrases.” Ryan, Ella and Ava

“In maths we were looking at big numbers above a million. We had to write in words and numbers and put them in order. We also read numbers from scales and found missing numbers.” Zakir

“In drama Mrs Hutchinson picked people to be fairy tale characters. The rest of us had to interview them. For example, we asked the Big Bad Wolf about being a murderer but he said he was innocent. There was also Red Riding Hood, the Seven Dwarfs and Cinderella.” Ava

“Tony from Active Schools came. We were working on coaching and leadership skills by setting up and running games for the rest of the class.” Edward

“In topic we did some frozen planet art. We looked at some Inuit art and then had a go ourselves. We drew pictures of polar animals and then we painted them. Some people did penguins, some people octopi and fish, and there was owls and huskies too.” Zakir

“In P.E we played capture the flag. This week we thought about how to split the team into different jobs. There was a jail guard, there were people going for the flag, there were people trying to distract the other team and there were others defending the flag.” Ross G

We also practised some of our gymnastics skills this week.

“In maths we were finding the area of triangles and then  composite shapes made of rectangles and triangles. To find the area of a triangle you multiply the height and width and then divide by two.” Daryn

“In writing we some persuasive writing about saving polar regions. We had to make 4 points and we had to include an introduction and a conclusion.” Dawud

“At the woodland we did a 1000 step challenge to explore. Then we used binoculars to look for different animals.” Ella

“In Music we played music bingo. There was a card with different notes. Mrs Hutchison clapped it out, if you had the rhythm you crossed it off.” Ava

“In P.E we played Capture the Flag. We discussed new rules, we added in dropping the flag if you got tigged and a time limit for being in the opponents box. We also moved the jail to make rescuing people easier.” Charlotte

“Today we went back to the gym hall for assembly! It was our first assembly in real life in two years! Some people got certificates and we sang the school song.” Aisha

“This week we went outside with Tony from Active Schools. Different tables took turns choosing and leading a game for us to play. We were learning how to be good leaders.” Ella

“Thursday was World Book Day. We had juice, crisps and sweets while we listened to our class novel. We also spent some time reading our own books and we also did a book swap. People brought in books to swap with one another.” Amina

“In drama we acted out what we would do on an aeroplane. There was a huge flight on the plane!”  Edward

“In writing we were highlighting the rule of three, opinion, emotive language and rhetorical questions in our model text. Then we used our new skills to write a persuasive piece arguing that the wolf was innocent in Little Red Riding Hood.” Dawud

“In topic we were making food chains for polar animals and when we finished we started making a food web.” Emily

“In maths we were finding the area of composite shapes and also the area of some real life objects around the class.” Cameron
