Week 5

We went to the woodland with Mrs Biggart and had great fun building an activity trail. We used team work, creativity and problem solving skills.

We learnt about the rule of three in writing. We used it to create impact and describes things.

We created clans in our table groups. We made up mottos, badges, tartans, and clan names.

In maths we made our own misleading graphs, and we fixed Mr Flood’s misleading graph. We’ve been learning how graphs can trick us into thinking a certain way. Spotting these kinds of graphs is an important life skill.

In Art with Mrs Hutchison we mixed colours together and blending colours. We also did some music we were learning about the instruments in an orchestra.

It’s been a busy week and we hope everyone enjoys a well earned long weekend.

Week 4

We’ve had a great week in P6B.

We’ve been learning lots about data handling, including trends and conducting surveys. We completed a nature survey outside and then some people made graphs to show the data.

We’ve continued our clans topic. We looked at the origins of some famous clan names and then looked up our own.

We’ve also been discussing kindness and our emotions, we created emotion t-shirts and wrote care instructions for ourselves and each other.

We practised using pathetic fallacy in our writing this week too. We used the weather to set the tone of our stories.

We hope you have a great weekend and we are looking forward to next week already!

Week 3

It’s the end of another great week in P6b.

We started prefecting last Friday, covering for the P7s so they can have a day off. It’s hard work but we are really enjoying taking on some more responsibility.

We were using similes in our writing this week. We used them to improve our descriptions.

We’ve been developing throwing and catching skills in P.E. We enjoyed playing a range of games discussing what skills were being practised and thinking about tactics.

We have begun learning about data analysis, starting with bar graphs. We completed surveys and had a go at drawing our own graphs.

We are working on art with Mrs Hutchison. This week we mixed colours with Mrs Hutchison in art making primary, secondary and tertiary colours. It was quite messy, but great fun.

We hope you’ve enjoyed reading about a few of the things we’ve been learning this week.

Week 2

It’s been another busy week in 6B!

We’ve been really enjoying listening to our novel, ‘How I Saved The World In a Week’ by Polly Ho-Yen. We’ve been making predictions and asking questions about the book. We’ve also used it to revise some grammar basics, finding examples of types of words.

We’ve been writing this week too. We worked to complete some story starters. After completing our writing we worked in pairs to peer-assess it using different colours to pick out some great examples.

In Numeracy we have been problem solving. We wrote word problems to ‘stump the teacher’ and tried to think outside the box to solve matchstick puzzles.

We have also begun our topic looking at Scottish history, after a vote we picked to learn about Scottish clans.

We hope you have a great weekend!
