FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT

This year the focus for Fairtrade Fortnight (24th February – 8th March) remains the same as last year – ‘Women Cocoa Farmers in Côte d’Ivoire’.

We will be learning about where chocolate comes from, the unfairness at the heart of one of our favourite treats and how we can use our voices and consumer power to address it. Pupils will be creating a Fairtrade chocolate bar wrapper as part of a school competition as well as taking part in the “Bring in a Fairtrade Snack” Competition.

To promote Fairtrade products we will be running the following events:

  • Monday 24th February until Friday 6th March – Children can bring in a Fairtrade snack for playtime. The class who have brought in the most Fairtrade snacks at the end of the fortnight will win a prize as a class.
  • Monday 24th February – Lunch Time Fairtrade Tuck Shop (P4-P7)
  • Tuesday 25th February – “Pop in for a Pancake” at 8:30am in P5b (P1-P3)
  • Friday 28th February – Lunch Time Fairtrade Tuck Shop (P1-P3)
  • Friday 6th March – All children can wear Fairtrade colours to school (green or blue)

We will be selling snacks and a selection of small toys. Your child can bring in money on these dates if they wish to buy some Fairtrade products. Please find price lists attached.
