Christmas Shopping

With Christmas now approaching, I am sure many of you are starting to think about Christmas Shopping. This year, while doing your shopping, you can also raise money for the school.

By using the Easy Fundraising website, you can make purchases from many retailers, including John Lewis, Argos, Debenhams and Tesco, and the school will receive a donation for each purchase you make!

It will not cost you any extra, but the money raised will be used by the PSA to fund various activities and events in the school.

It’s quick and easy to register. Go to www.easyfundraising.org.uk<http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk> and then search for ‘Our Lady of the Missions’. You will need to set up an account with a user name and password. If you previously registered when your children were at Glenwood, you will get a message confirming you have changed your chosen beneficiary.

Please ask family members / friends to consider shopping via the website too – the more money we can raise, the more we can do for your children here in the school.

Thank you

From Our Lady of the Missions PSA

Primary 1 Blending Information

Word Box Sheet
Please use these groups of words with your child each night to develop their skill of blending (sounding out).

For example:

sat
. . .

duck
. .   .

When a dot is placed under the letter your child should say that letter sound or joint sound (ai, ee, ie, ck, oa etc.), repeat the sounds slowly until they can successfully say the word.

Please note these words have not to be learned. The aim of these is to develop the skill of blending using the sounds they know, rather than developing visual memory.

Your child will receive a new word box sheet every 6 weeks.

Parent Council AGM

Dear Parent Forum Member,

At The Annual General Meeting of the Parent Council last year there was a significant increase of new parents, this was extremely welcome and new members have made a very valuable contribution this session (thank you!)

The constitution requires that all prospective members must attend the AGM to nominate themselves. Existing members also need to re-join every year. Continue reading Parent Council AGM

OUR LADY OF THE MISSIONS PARENT STAFF ASSOCIATION (PSA) AUTUMN UPDATE

Firstly, many thanks to all those that turned up at the AGM and the Meet the Teacher evening.  We now have many new
volunteers, particularly from the P1 community which is fantastic, but we could always do with a few more!

Sincere thanks to our retiring office bearers, Catherine, retiring Secretary, but who as you can see is still involved, and particularly to Clare Deehan, a former Chair and I believe a committee member for 11 years.  Upon this rock we built this stone, (with help from quite a few others). Maher Project

Sr Lucy Kurien, a Catholic nun who founded and runs the Maher Project in India for disadvantaged women and children, visited our school on September 9th to tell us about all the work that she does. Sr Lucy collected a cheque for £1000 which we raised by bringing a donation, on our school Feast Day, to dress in our own clothes!  A huge thank you to everyone for such a marvellous response.
