Language and Culture Events

OLM hosted a Language and Culture Celebration across our school.   As Burns Day and The Chinese New Year both landed on the 25th January – we decided to open up the doors to our school and display to families and local community members the Language Learning that takes place within our school.  To read more about it please see our monthly newsletter: https://sway.office.com/TxqNJkx6gwAbIWSB?ref=Link&loc=play.

Primary 5 hosted a series of workshops around Scots Language, and ran a Burns Celebration.  Primary 6 hosted a French Culture and Café event in our main halls and Mensa.  Primary 7 shared in their learning around Mandarin and Chinese Culture.  Our Primary 1-4 pupils were able to visit these workshops throughout the morning.  The main outcomes of this event were:

          Parental Engagement with Pupil Learning

          Pupil Leadership

Pupils transferring creativity skills to new contexts

Pupils developing their ability to create, present and evaluate.

Pupils capitalising on real-life contexts for learning.

As part of this celebration, our Mandarin Teacher (Shengnan Cho) and French Student (Heloise) were available and ready to share their skills and experience with staff, families and pupils.
