Christmas Jumper Fund Raiser

Mr Moghul in the Mathematics department was judged to be wearing the ‘best’ Christmas Jumper on Monday

The Jumper competition was part of a series of events that took place on Monday to raise money for the Save the Children Typhoon Appeal.

The event was organised by Kate Jarvie of S2. As well as wearing of Christmas jumpers Kate organised a bake sale, lunchtime sing-a-long and best class Christmas jumper competitions.

As far over £860 has been raised.  A great BIG well done and thanks to all who contributed especially Kate for arranging the day.

Save the Children Philippines Typhoon Appeal

On Monday 16th December Mearns Castle High School will take part in its very own ‘Christmas Jumper Day’.

Staff and pupils are asked to make a £1 donation to wear their Christmas Jumper – you may even want to design your own.  If you don’t fancy wearing a winter woolly you can accessorise yourself in a festive way for the same £1 donation.

Earn house points for the best Christmas Jumper when your class can vote in period 7.

A panel of judges will also vote for the BEST or WORST Christmas Jumper worn by a teacher.

S2 pupils are selling their homemade Christmas baking at interval and lunchtime; everyone can have Polaroid pictures taken with their mates in festive attire, and/or you can take part in Christmas Karaoke at lunchtime in the open area.

All money made will go to the Save the Children Philippines Typhoon Appeal. To book your bake sale table or if you have any questions please see Christmas Jumper Day organiser Kate Jarvie in S2.

Charities Week

The final part of Charities Week – Look Back in Laughter – takes place on the evenings of Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th November. These two evening shows will feature the pick of the acts from the lunchtime shows and you are asked to bring along your mum and dad, aunties, uncles, grannies, grandpas, big brothers and sisters, friends and neighbours to the shows so that can see and enjoy the wonderful talent that we had on display during Charities Week.

The shows last from 7.30pm until about 9.45pm each evening. The draw for the Charities Week raffles will take place on the second night of Look Back in Laughter.
Tickets are priced at £3 each and this includes tea, coffee, and biscuits during the interval – a real bargain.

Tickets are on sale from today in the open area at lunchtime and we will sell them every day at lunchtime for the rest of this week and all next week until they are sold out.
