Four S2 classes had the fantastic opportunity to be part of Creative Storytelling workshops on Friday 15th June.
Victoria Williamson gave a variety of excellent tips and practical exercises for the pupils and spoke about her own journey and development as a writer. Pupils got to write some Flash Fiction and heard about Victoria’s debut novel, ‘The Fox Girl and the White Gazelle’, published by Kelpies at Floris Books. It was an inspiring and enjoyable day and we would like to thank Victoria for her excellent work with all of us!
It’s #fosteringfortnight so a great time to remind you we still need supported carers in East Ren (foster carers for 16-21 yr olds). @EastRenCouncil provides a wealth of support, generous allowance and an individual approach.

Advanced Higher Art & Design and Higher Photography
We are having a pop up Art and Design exhibition on Wednesday the 25th of April from 5 pm to 7.30pm.
This exhibition is to display the amazingly talented group of Advanced Higher Art & Design students we have this year. Many of them have got into the major art schools, fashion degrees courses and Glasgow School of Architecture. We are also going to exhibit 264 photographs from the Higher photography sections.
We would love to see you and if you want to pop into the open area of Mearns Castle High School on the way home.
Invite your colleagues or any inspiring young talent. Help us celebrate and share creativity at its best!
Do you love languages?
Are you currently in fifth year?
Would you like to work with other young people and enhance your CV?
Do you enjoy sharing your news, views and opinions on social media?
Well, this role might be for you!
We are looking for committed, dynamic young people to join our team as SCILT interns. This would see you using social media regularly and collaborating effectively with a team to demonstrate your love of languages and where they can take you, on a national, international and global level. This is an excellent opportunity for the right person to experience a professional work internship and enhance their sixth year at school.
Please note that interns will be home-based and the opportunity is open to young people across the country. Successful applicants must commit to attending a training day in Glasgow on Tuesday 12 June 2018.
Please download and read the Information Pack. It includes the Job Description and Person Specification.
