S6 photos are available from the school office. If you are in S1, S3 and S5 and were absent whilst photos were given out, please also collect from office.
S4 – Work Experience
Any pupils claiming travelling expenses for their work experience are reminded to put all receipts and claim form in an envelope and put in the blue boxes outside the office.
Work Experience Safety Equipment
Any pupil who was issued with safety equipment (boots, overalls, etc) for their work experience should return it to the office as soon as possible.
S3 and S4 Philosophy Club.
The first meeting of the new philosophy club takes place on Monday, 4th November during lunchtime.
We will shoot the breeze about ‘personhood’; what makes a person? Can my dog which has personality, emotions and reasoning abilities be called a person? If your cells replace themselves every 7 or so years, are you still the same ‘person’ now, as you were 7 years ago?
MCHS Young Football Journalist of the Year 2013/14
S1-S3 pupils have the opportunity to be involved in this fantastic journalism competition.
You have the chance to submit a written report (maximum 500 words) based on any televised football game. From the initial entries there will be finalists identified to progress onto the final stage. Finalists will then be invited to a live football game and winners/runners-up then identified for prizes!
Key dates –
30/10/13 – Deadline to register for competition
06/12/13 – Deadline for submission of first report
31/03/13 – Deadline for final report (Finalists only)

Nuffield Placement Scheme Summer of 2014. S5 Pupils
Nuffield Placement Scheme will take place once again during the summer of 2014. This involves completing a science/mathematics/engineering placement during the summer holidays.
As in previous years, the scheme is aimed at the current 5th year students who will be sitting their Highers in 2014 and who are studying any science, technology, engineering and/or maths subjects.
The students should have good Int 2 level results in these subjects . More importantly they should be motivated and interested in studying sience at university.
It also pays £80 per week!

Silver Duke of Edinburgh
A reminder to pupils to keep putting on evidence to their edofe accounts and presentations should be uploaded either as a powerpoint or word document.
There are also outstanding pupils from last year who must complete their award asap. Any log in issues please see Mrs Ward.
Bronze Duke of Edinburgh
A reminder to pupils to keep putting on evidence onto their edfoe accounts. There is a deadline of end of November to try and finish Bronze particularly if you are planning on going on to do Silver.
