World Book Day March 2014

To celebrate World Book Day, S1 pupils dressed up as their favourite characters from books and films for a fun afternoon in the theatre taking part in the inter-house Big Book Quiz.

House teams battled it out over six rounds, with Gleneagles eventually winning the glory and those all-important 100 House Points!

Fancy dress winners were also presented with certificates and prizes – with 1st place going to Aimee Logan dressed as a Flapper from “The Great Gatsby”.

Athletics

Scottish Schools Cross Country Championships

Congratulations to all the runners who took part on Saturday at a very windy Irvine! All runners competed exceptionally well with some truly outstanding performances against the best runners in the country.

Special mention must go to Nikki Miller who cam second in the Girls’ Group C race and Holly Still who came 4th in the Girls’ Group B race.

Both girls have now been chosen to represent Scotland in the forthcoming Home International in Bolton on the 22nd March. Congratulations to both girls.

Curling

MCHS Curlers have played their qualifiers for the Scottish Schools Competition and won 2 out of 3 games. They have now qualified for the finals at Murrayfield ice rink on 14-16th March.

Well done to Carolyn Baird, James Strang and Mairi and Heather McDonald. They all played really well and the parent coaches tell me they were very proud of their team.

Good luck in the finals!
