Purim Celebrations

Rabbi RubenPupils and staff at Calderwood Lodge had a fantastic time today celebrating Purim in school.  As usual there were many wonderful and creative costumes, and this year as Purim coincided with World Book Day we took the theme of ‘characters from stories and books’ to help us choose our costumes.  The whole school celebrated in the hall with an assembly that included a fashion parade, a play presented by Primary 5, a comedy sketch from Mrs Yedd, Mrs Borowski and Shosh and a visit from our very own Smurf Rabbi Rubin.  Activities carried on throughout the day linked to World Book Day.  Look out for pictures to follow in The Jewish Telegraph and check back here later for a gallery of photographs from the day.

Purim

Next week we will once again be celebrating Purim.  Purim coincides with world book day this year so we are taking the theme of characters from a story for our fancy dress costumes.  Take a look in the latest news section next week for stories and pictures of the celebrations.  In the meantime please click here to view a presentation about the festival of Purim.  This presentation will give you information relating to the story that you may find helpful when talking with your child about their learning of the festival in school

Book Fair

Once again the Book Fair will be in Calderwood Lodge for the week.  Each class will have a chance to visit the Book Fair during the school day.  The Book Fair will  be open at break times and lunch times for the children to purchase books and other small items.  There will also be an opportunity for parents to visit during the upcoming parents’ evening.
