Meet the Teacher Afternoons

Parents are invited to join us at our Meet the Teacher afternoons as follows:

Primary 1 – Thursday 24 August

Primary 2 – Wednesday 23 August

Primary 3 – Tuesday 22 August

Primary 4 – Wednesday 30 August

Primary 5 – Monday 28 August

Primary 6 – Tuesday 29 August

Primary 7 – Thursday 31 August

The afternoons will begin with a tour of the school at 2pm followed by time in the classroom with your child and the teacher. These events will be informal, their purpose is to allow parents to see their child in the school setting and get to find out a little about the year ahead, teachers will give general information regarding PE days, homework etc, it will not be an opportunity to discuss individual children.

These are planned group events, if you are unable to attend individual meetings with teachers will not be arranged as an alternative.

Mrs Rosenberg and Mr Guetta will host a Meet the Kodesh and Ivrit Teacher afternoon to share some of the approaches used in our Jewish studies lessons. This will take place on Monday 4 September at 2pm, all parents are welcome to attend this.

Download Microsoft Office Apps for Free

As the children in our school have access to Glow , it is now possible to download for free the Microsoft Office 2016 apps on up to 15 personal devices; up to 5 PCs or Macs, 5 tablets (Windows, iPad and Android) and 5 phones.  ‎Making these apps available helps Glow users take full advantage of the opportunities these tools offer. The Office apps which include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote provide a learning platform that extends beyond school and into the world of work.

To download the Office 2016 apps, log in to Glow and either click on the ‘Download Office Now’ tile or go to the ‘Office 365 Home’ tile and once in Office 365, click on “Install Office 2016” at the top right of the page. Find out more here. If you are unable to access your child’s Glow account at home, or have any questions on how to download this software, please contact the school and arrange to speak with Mr Robson.

Red Nose Day 2017

Staff and pupils at Calderwood Lodge had a fun time in the hall celebrating Red Nose Day by ‘Doing Something for Money’. Mrs Hughes and the Rights Respecting School Committee worked extremely hard to organise our whole school event. Pupils from the Nursery up to Primary 7 performed funny sketches and told jokes to make us all laugh, and we donated money to give to those who need it. Below is just a selection of some pictures of our pupils wearing their special Red Nose Day items.

Video calling our partner school

On Wednesday the whole school gathered in the hall to take part in a video call with our partner school in Israel. The event was organised by our Ivrit teacher Mr Guetta, and Nava, an English teacher at Azarim. Our Primary 7 class and pupils from Arazim school took turns to light candles on the Chanukiah, accompanied by a number of special blessings.  Primary 7 presented a dance and the whole school sang some Chanukah songs. The children were very excited on both sides, and we look forward to our next video call with them.

For anyone driving past the site of the new school recently you will have noticed how quickly the building is taking shape. We were sent some pictures of the progress so far and thought parents and carers and other members of the community might like to see these also.
