Representatives of pupils, parents and staff joined with East Renfrewshire councillors and officials as well as some of the partners who were involved in building the new school, for the official opening earlier today.
Provost Jim Fletcher welcomed everyone to the new school before a very powerful video showing life in the new school, created by our multimedia technician Matthew Mathieson, was played. It can be seen at the link below and is already on the East Renfrewshire Facebook site with some photos and videos (check also the Parent Council Facebook page and Twitter for more).
The pupil singing group then gave us 2 very appropriate songs – ‘We are the Children’ and ‘Follow Your Dreams’, beautifully sung, followed by Pachelbel’s Canon played superbly by the band.
Head Teacher Andy Sinclair gave some thoughts around the new building from a school perspective before Councillor Paul O”Kane, Convenor for Education & Equalities, spoke and unveiled the Commemorative Plaque.
Councillor Tony Buchanan then made the closing remarks before the band played us out with ‘Best Years of Our Lives’ and our own catering staff provided an excellent buffet for the guests.
It was an appropriate and meaningful way to ‘officially’ welcome in the new school and all present spoke very highly of the whole event.
