Italy Assembly

The Snowdrops were all confident individuals this week, helping to lead our primary assembly.  Everyone made effective contributions by holding up a visual aid, using some Makaton signs or playing a percussion instrument during our Italy theme song.  We enjoyed telling and showing all our friends about our successful learning so far this term.

Pizza Circles!

The Snowdrops have been successful learners exploring the round, circle shape of a pizza.  We went on a circle shape hunt around school and spotted lots of circle shapes!  In class, we were making circle shapes from play doh, threading circle buttons, touching textured circle shapes and drawing circles on the smartboard.  We even noticed our Willowbank School emblem has a big circle around it on the atrium floor – we held hands and sang a circle song around it.  Great effective contributions to our activities from everyone!

FAOL – Music – Bang, Tap, Stop! Song

The Snowdrops have been enjoying using percussion instruments to accompany songs by playing loudly or softly. They are also very good at knowing when to play and when to stop playing during songs. Our new song we are currently learning is called ‘Bang, Tap, Stop!’ which requires the class to play loudly and quietly as well as follow directions such as start and stop. They are having really good fun and love playing the variety of drums that we have in our music room.

The BIG Pedal

*Confident individuals, Effective  contributors *

Last month we enjoy participating in  ‘The Big Pedal ‘ . This encouraged us to be a bit more active and we joined in some full school fun activities that got us moving our bodies in different ways .. we really enjoyed the obstacle course and got very competitive as we counted out loud to see who was the quickest . In the end Morgan was our winner after  a head to head with Ryan . We think we were all winners as we all did our best and enjoyed taking part .

Ristorante Pizzeria

Confident individuals, effective contributors, successful learners

Lately the snowdrops have been working hard in the cookery room. With our theme being about Italy we get to try some fantastic food . We have been making pizza and mixing the dough and rolling it out to make the base. Then we have all tried different toppings before deciding what went on our pizza . The pizzas looked and tasted great .

Sensory Art Italian style

*confident Individuals/ effective contributors *

The snowdrops took part in a sensory art lesson to make a pizza for our wall display. Instead of using paint brushes to paint the tomato base we used spaghetti part cooked and banded together as our brush . We all loved the activity and did really well at choosing toppings and adding shredded paper for the cheese. Lots of different textures. We were all delighted with our finished pizza . Molto bene(well done) everyone .

Gardening Snowdrops

The Snowdrops have been responsible citizens digging and planting some flowers in the school garden.  Everyone made effective contributions, using different garden tools and taking turns to hold our plants gently.  We are going to be responsible citizens, taking care of them and watching them grow.  Our flowers will show the colours of the Italian flag – green, white and red.

Snowdrops fly over to Italy

The Snowdrops have all been successfully learning about Italy and making effective contributions to all our art work, songs and drama activities.  We thought you would like to see our theme wall in class which shows all our hard work to date.  We also use large pictures on boards to sing song and make personal choices about things we would see or eat if we went to Italy.
