ilunch went great! We all took part in a boxing session as well as participating in some outdoor learning activities like bug hunting. Everyone who attended got provided with a packed lunch, and new families got an activity pack to take away.
Please see below a summary of this session’s School Improvement Plan for session 2021-2022. Thank you for your support during our consultation exercises.
You will find our full School Improvement Plan for session 2021-2022 and last session’s Standards and Quality Report in the DOWNLOADS and DOCUMENTS tab within ALL ABOUT OUR SCHOOL tab at the top of the page.
As you know we are a PATHS school. We deliver PATHS wellbeing programme across the school from P1-P7. This involves teaching our children Positive Alternative Thinking Strategies in a bid to promote positive behaviour and wellbeing.
At the end of last session all of our Classroom Assistants were trained to ensure consistent delivery of the programme across the school.
This session I am delighted to announce that some of our P6 pupils have taken on a leadership role and have been appointed PATHS Buddies. Their role is to support the younger children in the playground by helping them to find friends, play fun games and support them if they feel overwhelmed.
At the beginning of the session our P2’s and P3’s found the walk along the ECC lane a bit daunting in the morning. Our Buddies have worked hard to support the wee ones by meeting them at the gate prior to 9am and walking them along into the playground or school on a wet morning. As a result we have had positive results and some great feedback from parents. Keep up the good work P6!
A massive well done to Arran Johnson and Orla McMurdo for being appointed this session’s Junior Road Safety Officers! I was pleased to see Mrs Mair and Mrs Elliott putting you through your paces on Friday, organising your first Road Safety competition of the new session. Best of luck!
We are delighted with the response to the use of Learning Journals by parents/carers. The children really enjoy uploading their work to share.
Our approach to using this reporting format is…
2 stories will be uploaded each week – this is an overview of what has been happening in class. Therefore this may not be your child’s individual work.
1 observation of your child’s own work will be uploaded once in a three week rota as the classes are set in small focus groups to have that detailed focus time. Therefore every 3 weeks your child will have a personal observation uploaded. This will be on the subject of literacy – writing, as we are aiming to raise attainment in this particular area through our school improvement plan.
Parental Contributions
Please use the parental contributions area to share learning from home, be it learning to tie shoe laces, baking a cake and following the recipe, certificates for dancing, gymnastics, karate etc. Anything that shares the fantastic learning opportunities in the home and beyond. We want to know and these can then support with their Wider Achievements awards.
Adding more parents/carers/family members to be able to view your child’s profile is an option that is available. If you wish others in your family to have this access, please complete the contact form below.
Congratulations to all P7’s who applied to be prefects. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed and I am pleased to announce that all who applied have secured prefect positions.
However, we will operate prefects this year on a termly basis; 8 prefects will serve the remainder of term 1 and term 2, 8 in term 3 and 8 in term 4, with all prefects being given 12 weeks of duties.
Our House Captains will serve as prefects for the whole year.
