The uniform bank will be available on the last Friday of each month from now until the Summer break!

World of Work Week – Farming Visits

Our final day of World of Work week was extremely exciting as we welcomed local farmers into our school playground!

A huge thank you to Emma and Stevie Guild, Elaine and Allan Young, and John Murray for a fantastic day enjoyed by all pupils and staff.  We are so grateful to learn about the career opportunities in farming and agriculture, as well as how farming hugely benefits our community here in New Cumnock.

Take a look at our video to see our amazing day!

World of Work Week – Author Visits

Before the holidays, all our children enjoyed learning about the world of work through a variety of visitors.

On Wednesday 30th March, we were visited virtually by 2 authors; Shirley Husband and Lindsay Littleson!

Shirley Husband is a local author who is known for her Harris McCoo books.  Shirley and her illustrator Maurice Hynds created the Harris McCoo series of books based on art works by Steven Brown Art.

Shirley spoke about her career as a children’s author and her process for writing picture books.  She answered lots of questions from our P1-3 children, and spoke about her journey into writing with our P4-7 classes.

Lindsay Littleson is an award winning Scottish author who writes middle grade fiction novels.  Our P5 class were even studying one of her books last term… “The Secrets of the Last Merfolk”.

Lindsay did a long Q and A session with our P4-7 classes answering a variety of questions from pupils about her inspiration for writing, how she became a writer and her favourite books.

Thank you so much to both these talented authors for inspiring our children!
