As part of our Clean Green Schools Award, we are participating in the Voyage to Venus transport initiative, encouraging everyone to travel to school in sustainable ways. This begins on Monday 29th September!
TTRS – Scotland Rocks!
Times Table Rock Stars are running a Scotland wide competition which closes tomorrow, Thursday 25th September at 7.30pm.
Players are limited to 1 hour play each day.
Children in P3/4-P7 have accounts created and should have note of their TTRS log in. If not, they can ask their teacher for it.
Please encourage them to log in to the website or the app on their device at home to join in and practise their Times Tables.
P7 Free Strings Tuition
Free String Tuition Opportunity for P7 Pupils

These sessions will build on the skills pupils are developing in whole class strings sessions.
Please note these sessions are from 4pm-5pm on Wednesday evenings in the Pierburg Building on Dumfries House Estate. The first session is on Wednesday 1st October.
Fitfest Ambassadors
This week we were visited by Tammy from the New Cumnock Development Trust who came to tell us all about Fitfest 2026 and how our P6 and P7 pupils have the opportunity to apply to be a Fitfest Ambassador.
Application forms were sent home and the closing date for these to be delivered to the NCDT office is this Wednesday 17th September. Applications will be shortlisted and interviews held soon after in school.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our young people to develop leadership skills and to represent their school and community.
If your child didn’t get an application form and wishes to submit one, please email Mrs McNulty and she will get one sent home on Monday.

Yipworld are one of our community partners who have Youth Groups and Services running for young people and the greater community.
Employability Support
Our employability team will be available from Monday to Thursday each week from 9am to 4pm each day. This support programme is aimed at anyone ages 16 to 24 and can aid in writing C.V.’s, finding
training, applying for jobs or higher education and provide advice. They are always happy to accept referrals of school leavers looking to take their next step in life!

For any low income families with children, who would like support to improve their family circumstances and achieve their goals, a service is being offered by Yipworld.
Families First can provide budgeting advice, emotional and practical support as well as introductions to attend community resources.

S1 Transition ‘Tea @ 3’
Calling all new S1’s that transitioned from New Cumnock Primary School!
As promised, we will be hosting a ‘Tea @ 3’ session to check-in with our most recent cohort of S1’s and to hear about how you have settled into life as S1s at RBA!
Our sessions will be held on Friday 26th September and Friday 3rd October 3-4pm. S1 pupils are reminded that they must enter via the Community Entrance.
This is an opportunity for new S1 pupils to check in with primary staff they trust, whilst they are still building relationships with staff at the Robert Burns Academy, and have a chat about their new school, subjects, friends, or any worries they have.
This is not compulsory for pupils, but we would love to see you!
75th anniversary of the Knockshinnoch disaster
Our P7 House Captains visited the Knockshinnoch memorial to lay a wreath to honour the 75th anniversary of the mining disaster in which 13 men lost their lives.
This is a huge part of our heritage and has been discussed with the whole school at Get Together.
