New Cumnock Primary School are delighted to inform you that we will be running a new after-school club based around Emotional Literacy which will be open to all p2 and p3 children. This will help support our children to understand and express their emotions and feelings in a positive and helpful manner, within a safe, nurturing and fun environment.
Each session will include an after-school healthy snack which children will be able to enjoy during the delivery of a specific emotion based story. This will then be followed with a linked craft.
Sessions will take place every Tuesday from 25th April until 23rd May from 3:00 till 4:15.
If you would like your child to take part, please sign the slip attached to the letter which your child will be given tomorrow and hand back in to school before Friday 21st April. You will be contacted on Monday 24th if your child has been allocated a space.
A huge thank you to our Parent Council for a wonderful fund raising disco held tonight at school. It was lovely to have everyone attend and have lots of fun dancing the night away. The playlist catered to the children’s requests was a huge hit, what a wonderful varied music taste we have at New Cumnock Primary. There was something for everyone! 🤩💃🕺
Our partners from Vibrant Communities, Adam and Dugie, who both also run our Parental Empowerment Programme every week, have managed to organise training opportunities for parents at New Cumnock Primary School. The training is free and will be delivered by Scottish Fire and Rescue. Due to limited spaces available if you would like to participate in this extremely worthwhile training please complete the attached form before 28th April. Thank You.
The Eco Rich Task Group have been planning and organising a Planet Picnic for Thursday 30th March 2023. This will be a celebration of ways in which we can look after the environment. This picnic will run from 11-11:30am and the children are being asked to bring in snacks and drinks that are packaged in a sustainable way. It would also be good if the food brought could be locally produced as food miles are a big consideration when thinking about protecting our planet. The Rich Task Group have created activities to be done during the event and there will be a competition to design and win a ‘customised’ reusable bottle! As it is a picnic it would be great if the children could bring a picnic blanket.
Today we celebrated our pupils Wider Achievements at our FAB Friday Get Together. We loved learning more about each others hobbies and successes out of school. From football and horse riding to gymnastics and dancing, we have a lot of talented children at New Cumnock Primary!
Well done to all who shared their achievements with their peers!
A huge thank you to NCDT and our Parent Council who successfully applied for a Community Fund which was used to buy our school football team their new football strips. Don’t they look wonderful?! 🤩
Recently, cases of head lice have been identified across the school and we wanted to make sure you were kept informed.
Whilst lice are nothing more than a nuisance, it is important that children are checked on a weekly basis so that any head lice can be dealt with quickly and before they are allowed to spread.
We suggest that you check your child’s head regularly.
Here is some simple advice you may wish to follow to keep head lice at bay.
Check your child’s hair once a week.
Use a proper detection comb. The comb is usually white in colour so that lice can be easily identified.
If you find live lice, visit the Pharmacy where you will be able to access the treatment under the minor ailments scheme and remember to check the whole family.
