Child Flu Vaccine | ||||||
Flu can be serious. Even healthy children can become seriously ill with flu. That’s why the flu vaccine is offered to all preschool children aged 2 years or over and all primary and secondary school children in Scotland. | ||||||
Getting your child vaccinated is the most effective way to reduce the risk of them getting flu and having to take time off nursery or school or spreading it to friends and family who are at greater risk this winter.
To help raise awareness of the child flu vaccine, Public Health Scotland has developed a social media toolkit with approved assets and captions for nurseries, primary and secondary schools, Health Boards and other stakeholders to share on your social media channels.
We hope you can share these assets on your social media channels and use the hashtag #ChildFluScot. There is also a range of resources on the Public Health Scotland website including:

Safer Schools Scotland App Workshop 28/8/23
We will be hosting a parent/carer information session to support our families with the use of our Safer School Scotland App.
A wee reminder to please join us on Monday 28th August from 3-4pm in the school gym hall. Entry will be via the Community Entrance.
Please bring your device with you and Mrs McNulty will be at hand to help you with how to navigate the new app and share it features.
Lost Property
We have now reached the end of our first week back at school and it has been wonderful to see so many children settled and happy to be back! A special shout out goes to our new P1s and new children who have started with us at the beginning of the session, they have been making such wonderful progress already, keep up the great work!
This week, however, we have accumulated a huge amount of lost property already, ranging from jackets and jumper to hoodies and packed lunches. Whilst our best efforts are made to try and get these back to their rightful owners, not all items we are finding have a name on them so we are gathering a huge amount of unidentifiable and unclaimed items.
We can’t stress enough about the importance of putting your child’s name on all items as it certainly helps us when items are left behind in classrooms, the dinner hall or the playground. We also ask that parents/carers are vigilant when checking the items their children return home with, and if they do not belong to your child, that you return these to school at the next given opportunity.
Fancy labels are not required, a simple name noted in pen on the label will do just grand!
Thank you for your support with this matter.
Breakfast Club 2023/24
We are absolutely delighted to inform our families that our Breakfast Club will be starting again from Monday 28th August!
Children are invited along to school to not only receive a nutritious breakfast, but they can socialise with their friends and take part in a range of activities before the start of the school day.
Breakfast Club will start at 8.15am and children are to enter via the door to the back of the gym hall (at the rear of the school car park). At 8.45am, children will be released into the school playground before coming into school with their classmates, all energised for the day ahead!
Places are limited so registration is necessary in order for your child to be added to the register. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. You will receive confirmation of your child’s place via phone call, so please ensure you provide us with a contact number. Please complete the contact form below to request a place for your child.
We are delighted to be able to offer this wonderful facility to our families free of charge, thanks to a Community Fund Grant awarded to us from the New Cumnock Development Trust. Thank you so much!
