Calling all new S1’s that transitioned from New Cumnock Primary School!
As promised, Mrs McNulty will be hosting a ‘Tea @ 3’ session to check-in with our most recent cohort of S1’s and to hear about how you have settled into life as S1s at RBA!
OUR NEXT SESSION WILL BE THIS FRIDAY 27TH SEPTEMBER 2024 @ 3PM. S1 PUPILS ARE REMINDED THAT THEY MUST ENTER VIA THE COMMUNITY ENTRANCE!
This is an opportunity for new S1 pupils to check in with primary staff they trust, whilst they are still building relationships with staff at the Robert Burns Academy, and have a chat about their new school, subjects, friends, or any worries they have.
This is not compulsory for pupils, but we would love to see you!

We are looking forward to seeing the new S1s this week and hope they are excited about their visit!
In preparation for these days there will be a virtual classroom visit to all P7s to remind them about the format for the two days. During the induction days (Tuesday and Wednesday) teaching staff and senior pupils will be on hand to ensure that they are supervised and supported at all times. As part of the virtual class visit I will be reminding pupils about the following items and bits of information they will need to bring with them next week:
A schoolbag and stationery
A note of their new PLP and practical class (eg. 1A1- 1P3)
Their username and password for logging on to the computers, this is the same one used in the primary school
A pair of trainers for P.E.
A snack for interval
A free school lunch will be available, although you may wish to bring your own packed lunch.
Our school cafeteria has kindly agreed to provide a free school meal for any pupil who would like to sample what’s on offer, although, you may wish to bring your own packed lunch. Please note that our new S1 will have a designated area to eat lunch as a year group and will not be allowed to leave this area at interval or lunch during their two day visit.
The first try out is on Monday 20th June, then those who are successful will be invited for a second trial on Thursday 23rd June.
If any of our P7’s are interested in joining, click the survey link here. The MONDAY time of 4pm-5pm will not be applicable to us as we are at Craufurdland Estate, so we are in negotiations to work in a different time. Please still fill in the survey link and we will sort out the timings.
I am pleased to share with you the link to our P7 Information Video. As we are currently unable to welcome large groups of parents to the school for a face-to-face information evening, we decided to record a video that you can view with your child instead. This video should answer many of the questions you may have about the final stages of our transition programme.
The video can be viewed by clicking the link below:
We would also like to invite you to an online drop-in session on Wednesday 25th May from 6.30-7.30pm. There will be no presentation or content shared during this session, this is an opportunity for parents and carers to ask any questions they may have. I would encourage you to watch the information video and look at the content on the P7 Transition page of our school blog in the first instance.
You can join us for the online session via the following link:
