P7 BBC Burns LA.B Project
What an exciting couple of days we have had in P7 where we have been working with BBC Scotland Learning on a Burns LAB Project.
We have been reciting and recording poetry and creating stop motion animations.
We can’t wait for you to see our work with Jo Hall and her team when it is aired in January. We will keep you posted!
School Meal Crunch Deal – beating the crunch with a school lunch
The Council is reducing the cost of a school meal for P6 and P7 pupils, who pay for their school meal, to £1.08. This special deal will run from August 2023 to June 2024. The same menu options will be available and our school meals will be freshly prepared each day, using quality ingredients from local suppliers.
House Captains, Vice Captains and Prefects 2023-24
We are delighted to announce our P7 leadership team for the new school year 2023-24.
Every pupil displayed confidence in not only writing about why they should be chosen, but also in their confident speeches presented in class.
A huge thank you to all school staff and our Parent Council members for casting their votes.

P7 Residential Trip – 1 more sleep!!!
Primary 7 Residential 2023
We are delighted to inform our Primary 7 pupils as well as their parents and carers that we have secured a booking for a Primary 7 Residential this session.
Our P7’s will enjoy 3 days (2 nights) at LOCKERBIE MANOR in Dumfries and Galloway! The venue offers amazing facilities and activities including:
- kayaking
- paddle boarding
- archery
- fencing
- zip wire
- cycling
- climbing wall
And so much more!
The provisional dates we have secured are Wednesday 19th April- Friday 21st April.
We plan to fundraise to keep the costs as low as possible for parents, and the school will make a contribution to the cost as well. There will however be a cost involved for parents, which will be finalised in the coming days. A non-refundable deposit of £50 per pupil will be required to secure a place, payable by Monday 14th September.
We would like to invite all P7 parents who are interested in learning more about the upcoming residential to an information evening at the school on Wednesday 7th September at 6pm where we can offer you a presentation, a breakdown of costs and answer any questions you may have.
In the meantime, please check out LOCKERBIE MANOR online at https://www.manoradventure.com/lockerbie-manor.php
PRIMARY 7 Transition Information
We are looking forward to seeing the new S1s this week and hope they are excited about their visit!Â
In preparation for these days there will be a virtual classroom visit to all P7s to remind them about the format for the two days. During the induction days (Tuesday and Wednesday) teaching staff and senior pupils will be on hand to ensure that they are supervised and supported at all times. As part of the virtual class visit I will be reminding pupils about the following items and bits of information they will need to bring with them next week:Â
- A schoolbag and stationeryÂ
- A note of their new PLP and practical class (eg. 1A1- 1P3)Â
- Their username and password for logging on to the computers, this is the same one used in the primary schoolÂ
- A pair of trainers for P.E. Â
- A snack for intervalÂ
- A free school lunch will be available, although you may wish to bring your own packed lunch.
Our school cafeteria has kindly agreed to provide a free school meal for any pupil who would like to sample what’s on offer, although, you may wish to bring your own packed lunch. Please note that our new S1 will have a designated area to eat lunch as a year group and will not be allowed to leave this area at interval or lunch during their two day visit.
Kind regards

The first try out is on Monday 20th June, then those who are successful will be invited for a second trial on Thursday 23rd June.
If any of our P7’s are interested in joining, click the survey link here.  The MONDAY time of 4pm-5pm will not be applicable to us as we are at Craufurdland Estate, so we are in negotiations to work in a different time.  Please still fill in the survey link and we will sort out the timings.
