We ran a couple of competitions across the school to find a winning mascot design and a winning poster design to represent the ‘respectme’ program within our school. The level of entries were fantastic and it was difficult to come to a final decision on both, but we finally decided on Connie’s (P3) mascot design of her ‘Bee Kind’ bumble bee – caring, kind, friendly, gentle, happy.
Jorjie’s (P7) poster was chosen as the winning entry, with her play on words, clever use of acrostic presentation and the inclusion of ‘respectme’ within her design.
Even though we hadn’t advertised for a school motto, we had an entry from Aleesha (P7) that we just had to use:
Stop Bullying!
Don’t Stand By!
Stand Up!
Stand Strong!
Stand Together!
Very well done to our winners! Your work will be a permanent fixture in our school for all pupils, staff and visitors to see for a long time to come.
During parents afternoon/evening we will have a stand set up to promote the ‘respectme’ program. People will be on hand to answer any questions and to direct you to the website which is full of very useful information and resources. Prefects will also be on hand to explain the learning that has been taking place across the school, which has complimented our nurturing school ethos.
Questionnaires were posted at the start of the initiative so that we could work towards filling any obvious gaps. These were sent to staff, pupils and parents. Now we are at the point of posting these questionnaires again in order to measure the impact of this program within our school community. Parental questionnaires will be posted on the blog soon. Your input is valuable to us; therefore, if you can spare five minutes of your time to do this, it would be very much appreciated. If anyone needs support accessing this, iPads will be available at our stand on parent’s afternoon/evening and someone will assist you.
